And Now Introducing…

So who will be introducing our speaker? Often this is a last minute thought. One of the program coordinators will generally name a colleague to do the honors. Sure the speaker will provide the written introduction but the impact of the Introduce can make or break an audience’s anticipation and reception and set the tone for your entire event. The importance of the “Introduction” is often not recognized for the important role that it plays.
When selecting your Introducer, a few thoughts you might want to think about:
• Go for the detail oriented. A nonchalant attitude can be an introduction killer.
• Choose someone who is polished in presentation skills will add “polish” to your
entire event.
• If there’s someone who knows the individual or is already a fan of the speaker,
chances are they will be honored to do the introduction and may add a comment of
endorsement, accolades and enthusiasm—all raising the attention of the audience.
• If your speaker has a product table where audience members can purchase books,
Is going to be available for autographs, or will be appearing….., these are great
Reminders for the audience. Instruct the “Wrap up” person (often the same
Introducer) to include this information as Announcements after the presentation. It serves as a great transition into the next thought and helps keep ‘the speaker buzz’ alive.
